EPISODE 8: THE TRUTH HURTS [SOMETIMES]

This weeks conversation is with Artist, Poet and Co-Funder of the Stuckist Movement; Charles Thompson. Charles instigated the Stuckist movement in 1999. He has been the driving force behind it and responsible for most of its media coverage. He has led demonstrations against the Turner Prize for many years, stood as a Stuckist for parliament, reported Charles Saatchi to the Office of Fair Trading, and run a Stuckist gallery. Previously he was a member of the Medway Poets (1979) and a full-time poet for over a decade and was briefly married to the artist Stella Vine.

Regular host, Laurence H Johns and Charles talk about that difficult space of building a collaborative, supportive community and yet having to challenge, having to push back when you think things are wrong. Having to make a stand, having to say what needs to be said and how that can be difficult and challenging and also how it can be a bit of a privilege. They go in detail, all the way from early literature to the modern art movement to the Kabbalah ⎯ they cover it all. So if you’re interested in the ’Truth’, if you’re interested in seeking the ’Truth’ and how seeking knowledge, and a willingness to take a stand can benefit your life, then take a look and listen to the wise words of Charles Thomson.

This is a great, and informative, conversation. – Hope you enjoy it.
